Another milestone this morning! Vee went on his first ever trail ride, 45 min through the bush at the walk.

Possibly the most shocking thing is that my non horsey OH consented to come with me!! Amazing.

He rode Levi who looked after him very well and gosh I hate that man, he's one of THOSE riders who can ride with next to no instruction and nil practise whereas I have had to work hard for hours and hours to achieve the same level.

Anyway, off we went, walked up my street and I dismounted when I got to the main road. Walked along it for a couple of meters and then crossed over to the bush tracks which start just there. He was such a good pony!

He was lookie and a bit nervous at first and couldn't decide whether he wanted to lead or to follow. We met a dog but the lady was great and had it on the lead and made it sit quietly for us to pass and although he was quite worried (as the dog was straining at the leash wanting to play) he walked past without being silly. Met a kangaroo which made him spook but he just jumped and then stopped to stare. After a little encouragement he walked on fine.

He crossed an empty creekbed, went up and down a couple of little hills and stepped over branches on the path. I was so proud of him! I even got to ride him on a long rein without him worrying too much and he relaxed more and more as we went along.

Part of the bush trail follows the road for about half a k and with several cars and even a harley roaring past on the road didn't concern him one bit. We even had a little trot along the sandy bit to catch up with Levi as poor Vee's widdle legs can't quite keep up with the big striding TB even though he has a real swinging walk himself.

SO proud of him
