Seven years ago my daughters went to a small rideing school and they learned to ride on many horses and ponys. One welsh mountain pony 11.2 hh named Blueberry taught Mel and kirsty, my daughters the basics and as Mel outgrew Berry she moved up to Cookie a beautiful arab gelding 14hh.
Cookie was 19 and berry 20 and the woman that owned them decided to get rid of them because they were TOO OLD....
Now this lady said to me "If you don't ride them or they get old, just get rid of them. It doesn't matter what happens to them".
The dogger offered her $200 for the pair and when I found out their fate I gave her $400 for them.Cookie had been sick with colic and had lost so much weight his hip bone stuck out and all his ribs were showing.Berry was very sour after all the kids pulling on her mouth ,kicking her ribs and belting her with the rideing crop. Cookie was nicknamed bones and Berry Grumpy.
I had my vet check them and put Cookie on gumnuts . Berry was fat.I had the dentist do their teeth and Berrys were good but Cookies were shocking with missing teeth and the opposite ones grown into the gap below.Cookie turned into a beauty. Mel and Kirsty would ride him on the road by themselfs. You could trust Cookie with your childs life, A really good horse. Sadly 12 months after getting him we lost him to colic....He was 20.
Grumpy was ridden for a few years but is now retired at 25 and still has a bad attitude She will stay here for the rest of her days as I have a soft spot for welsh ponys. The wife says it's between my ears
