I know us women can multi-task, but seriously, taking photos while lunging a horse on the side of a hill is rather difficult
This is the first time I have put boots and bell boots on Tommy, between that and working on the side of a hill (no flat area to use), he is doing really well with learning to pick his feet up nicely I'm really pleased with his progress, this is his third time doing big circles on the big lunge (all the lateral ground work we have been doing is paying off).
Going downhill
Almost level ground
Head slowly coming down (briefly anyway:)
Extending the trot uphill
Nice self carriage for a standardbred;)
Putting his head down more
Gee this is hard work mum
This is really hard work, even though we didn't lunge for very long at all, he did raise a bit of sweat under his woolly winter coat.
Hopefully next week I will be cleared to ride again, so will start him under saddle then. Can't wait! _________________ Standardbred Horses - Anything BUT Standard!

He looks fantastic, Michelle! Good job
Not ONLY can Standardbreds do circles but they can also do Elementary dressage and well. I know of one... for everyone on Facebook look up Buckley Woodley - a local standardbred gelding reaching high levels of training... he also Events! _________________

He looks so relaxed!!
I too agree that Buckley is a good representative for the STB breed to show how versatile they are! |

Thanks Kimaley!
He is absolutely awesome:) I rode him today for the very first time, and OMG what a super star! He did not put a foot wrong, and was more responsive than many more educated horses that I have ridden in the past.
He did not pace once, was totally relaxed walking, trotting and even a little canter and was totally responsive to my voice and leg cues, and very light in my hands, no pulling at all. And his trot is just beautiful! So easy to sit to, its just like you are floating along:)
He thoroughly enjoyed himself (yeah I *know* that sounds weird, but honestly he did. LOL usually when I ride Flicka he is right beside us doing everything that we do for the whole ride, so I think he was just glad to be the one doing stuff:)
LOL I do wonder if he has lolled me into a false sense of security and the next few rides will make up for it _________________ Standardbred Horses - Anything BUT Standard!
