Three new mares for SC this week! These girls were at the pound as they'd been found wandering. Their owner was notified however never came to get them thus legally abandoning them. The council sold them to SC for $3 for the lot of them. Patience the Stb mare and Duchess the Tb mare are both superb to handle however the filly is very frightened and nervous. In time I am positive she'll come good.

Patience and the filly are in great shape but poor old Duchess has been through the wars Sad

Here are some photos.

Hmmmm I think I feel a naming competition coming on!

Three dollars.. you're joking? D:

Poor old Duchess, she really has had it rough, but like the other two she still has that faint glimmer of hope in her eyes. Now that SC can look after, she'll be alright eventually. I think I'd cry if I saw a horse in that condition in real life. Fancy not wanting to reclaim these three beauties?

Thanks for all your positive vibes everyone!

A brief update. She's on penicilin & bute, she has also had her tetnus jab and the Vet's getting us something else which I can't pronounce the bloody name.

She's having her legs hosed twice daily and the farrier's booked. (barefoot specialist). She is also having basic feed, hay atm with hardfeed going to be introduced slowly after she's been on hay for a good week or so.

She's also had an Equine Touch session (very simular to bowen) and her entire spine is skewed. Turns out she was hit and knocked down by a car last time she got out and not a whole lot was done about it!

We found out that last time she got out, there were 14 horses impounded from the same owner/property altogether! 14!

But the Vet is still confident she's not in undue pain and with our treatment will have a good quality of life as somebody's pet/companion.

She's still letting us do whatever we want with her and even when her wounds are being cleaned she stands like a statue and won't move until asked. Hence why she's been dubbed Duchess, because of her impeccable manners and lady-like personality.
