Thought I'd start a thread about handy tips & hints forgeneral horse care Smile

I'll start:

Horse feed storage: Wheely bins! Easy to move around & sweep behind. Keeps the mice out, and you can fit a whole bag of chaff in one (the big bin that is). You can buy them from the council relatively cheaply. Smile

Anyone else?

When needing to place hay in to a bag or net, place the required amount of biscuits 1-2 on to an unused chaff bag (not in) and put the ends up on either side and your hay will slide effortlessly in to your bag or net, which also means less mess on the floor and on your cloths...

My Mum use's this one a lot and has just show friends of our this little trick as it can also be used to carry the hay to a paddock or yard if no net or bag is required.

Wear plastic shopping bags over your socks - makes it MUCH easier to slip in and out of long boots!!

Use rough side of a shedding blade to get the horse hair off your rugs prior to washing

Put cotton sheets under your winter rugs as they're easier to wash & replace than the big heavy ones!

To cut out lackies after a show use a stitch unpicker - quick and easy

When pulling hay off a hay roll use the rubber washing up gloves good grip no splinters

Be nice to your horse and they will always be nice back!!!
