Romeo has been Adopted!

Sadly, due to extreme ill health, Romeo's adoptee can no longer keep him, therefore he is now available for Adoption to a new home.

Second Chance's Romance was a neglect case, his owner was unable to provide him with the care he needed as they simply were not aware and could not afford to cater to his needs. He has been with Second Chance since February and is now fully rehabilitated.

Romeo is 19 yo 16.2hh THoroughbred gelding. He raced in Darwin and over east in his youth. He won 6 starts and retired from the track at around the age of 6. After this we do not know where he went.

Romeo is an excellent riding horse, he is educated to at least Novice level dressage and has been popped over small fences with no problems. He has been ridden by novice riders and experienced riders and is well behaved with both. He can be ridden in company or alone and although is a little spooky and unsure on his own with a person he doesn't know, has never offered to bolt, buck or act stupidly etc.

Romeo loves to play and will often pester his paddock mates for a game. He has plenty of get up and go and is willing to please. He will fizz up on heating feeds, he is a windsucker and he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

This horse has a slender frame and would not be suitable as a weight-carrier. He would be an ideal Adult Riders or Pony Club mount for a tall person as he's sensible and knows what he's doing.

Romeo requires shoes if being worked as his hooves were neglected for quite some time and are still in the process of coming good. He also has typical Thoroughbred flat feet. Romeo also needs a lot of flexion work to help loosen up his muscles and lots of long and low to help build up his topline. The more he is ridden, the better and more responsive he gets as he gets fitter to do the work.

For more information on Adoptions please visit www.schrar.org/adoption.html and then if you're keen on him, please let us know via phone call, email or PM Smile

Romeo will be available to ride and view from this Thursday, the 29th of November.

I can't take anymore although if he is still looking for a home when we finally find a property he sounds perfect for my Mum!

Can't believe all the weight he has put on and look at that neck!
