A Good thing happened out of a tradjedy.Driveing to work one dark winter morning a herd of horses ran out of a side road just missing my car and when they crossed the road behind me 2 were hit and killed by a truck. The rest ran up my road and stopped infront of my home where they were rounded up by my neighbours. They were dogger horses. Some body had cut the fence and these poor horses made the final run for freedom
Thus I became aware that a mongrel lowlife dogger lived only 4 kms. from me That weekend I drove down the road that the horses came out of and there on the right was a property full of horses. That had to be the one so in I went and met his wife who told me they were all for sale or they will be slaughtered..........
There was a big black warmblood gelding 16.1 hh.standing looking at the house and he was the first horse I looked at, a big friendly bloke who went on my list of possible rescue. There were about 120 horses and there were 5 on the maybe list. I went home to get the wife Bev to have a ride on the big fella and when we got back to the dogger he was saddled up and a lady was rideing him.Bev hopped on and took him for a ride and when she got to the end of the paddock, Cobalt turned around and cantered straight towards me with Bev totally out of control yelling Help Harry. Kirsty spotted a little chestnut shetland pony and ask it we can save him too. The dogger said if I buy Cobalt he will give me the shitty for free which made Kirsty very happy. The other horses on my list were a buckskin mare with a crook neck , a skewbald pony mare 12 hh who wore fairy boots and pinned her ears back when I approached her , And a black and white mare with a white forelock hanging over a black face.
We decided to buy Coby and on the way home I started laughing. Bev said "What's so funny ? At least I stayed on" Now Bev has a VERY large chest and I thought she was going to knock herself out.
I just said " darling the next time you ride it might pay to tighten up your bra a few notches"
Coby and Rusty were delivered next weekend and when the ramp dropped there stood this big black horse with a little pony standing under his tummy. I ask the dogger what was happening to the paint mare and her said "She's going in thursday to get her head chopped off"
Now Coby the boofy was a good rideing horse who went to the RDA for a while and took handicapped adults for rides and Rusty became a pet as he is only 34 inches tall.
12 months later Bev was bucked off and telescoped her pinky when she landed and never rode him since. She lay in bed moaning about how much it hurt being bucked off and I gave her the same sympathy as she gave me when my standy bucked me off and I was on crutches for 3 weeks. I laughted...................revenge is sweet
As I sit here typing this big Coby is standing in the door looking at me with those big brown eyes The big doofus knows how to wrap me around his hoof He and Rusty hindge have been with me for 4 1/2 years
