"The time has come the Walrus said.........................." What a wonderful journey we have had with these two astonishing ponies. But while Arty Farty still has some weight still to put on (Blossom is getting close to very good) we are selling our property and we thought we had better start the search for a home for these two special special dears. The fact that they have survived is beyond all my expectations. In nearly 50 years with horses I have seen some horrible horrible sights, but that these two were that thin and still breathing, and have come back so very rapidly is nothing short of a miracle.

Arty Farty is 9hh, blind in one eye, roach and razor backed, ewe necked, believed to be about 32 years old and with an old shoulder injury of such severity it has caused his knee to bow outward (perhaps we should have named him Lucky). That being said he seems to be pain free and he is the most adorable little creature who has an identity crisis. I'm sure he has no idea he is a pony. He is not the slightest bit interested in being with the herd and happily grazes in the garden and around the house paddock.

Blossom Dearie is approximately 14.1hh. I am not sure if she should be referred to as a buckskin or a dun. She is a chunky mare with lots of feathering and lots of attitude, perhaps of Connemara breeding, I don't think she is 1/4 horse and is around 25years old. When she first went into the paddock with the other horses she went in boots and all, running backwards and double barreling all and sundry (skinny and malnourished as she was). That being done and her place established all was well, although the others were very taken aback at such rudeness. She loves and adores the one and only gelding and is submissive to him, and of course she lets Arty Farty get away with even snatching some food from her bin. This little girl is attitude plus, and that, I am sure, is why she survived. She is pushy to handle, but that being said she will stand by you for hours while you stroke and groom her and she would never ever bite or kick, it's just if she wants to go to the paddock, and you want her somewhere else, and you only have baling twine around her neck................ she's going to the paddock!!!

We would dearly love these two to go together if possible, I suppose because we found them on the same property. That being said, they were not together, Blossom was trying to keep up with the herd, whereas Arty had squirreled himself away in the derelict house to die. They are yarded together at night, but in the day Blossom is out with the other horses, but Arty isn't interested in going with them. My big boy General (16.2hh) thinks he's the cutest thing and keeps licking him, which Arty finds particularly disgusting and goes and hides under a tree.

These ponies come with rugs and feed and (at this stage) $200 worth of donated stock feed. Their teeth have been done and their worming is of course up to date and I can't bear the thought that I am writing this……………

Please email or telephone if you believe you could give these two little battlers a "forever home". Ruth and John Roberts 95745957/0422533117, ruthroberts@bbnet.com.au I have photo's but am not sure how to put them on this site.
