Arty and Blossom go to their new home on Tuesday |
|
Yesterday we enjoyed a delightful visit from Anna Thompson of Primrose Court Trakehner and Sport Pony Stud, and her lovely toddler Jess. Anna had come to make the acquaintance of little Mr Arty Farty with a view to perhaps giving him the retirement home he so richly deserves.
Anna has been here from the UK for 4 years and brought with her, apart from her husband, the wonderful Trakehner stallion Highfield Vivaldi. Sadly Vivaldi’s sire Muschamp Maestro passed away at the end of last year, so it is doubly special that we have this stallion with these wonderful bloodlines available to us in Western Australia. And what is especially interesting to me is that Anna and her family are doing an “in-utero package”, where you can put dibs on a foal from the mare of your choosing, pay 20% deposit and wait and see what pops out, and also a payment plan. I don’t know about you lot, but this makes it a very real possibility for me to own some serious horseflesh that I hadn’t planned was in my budget at all. My husband is already quaking in his boots at the very gleam in my eye……………………………! Anna’s website is www.primrosecourt.com if you want to read more about it.
Anyway I digress………………. How unusual. Anna rang this afternoon, and after discussing it with her family, has chosen to take both Arty and Blossom. I can not tell you how pleased I am that these two ratbags will be living out their days together, and that they will be doing that under the tender loving care of Anna. I will send out photo’s of them in their new home, after they have been tucked in at Primrose Court onTuesday.
Many thanks to all of you wonderful, marvellous people, for all your help and support.
• For all the anonymous donations, some of them from pensioners some of them as much as $100 donated to Northam Stockfeeders for feed. I wish I had your details to thank you personally.
• Northam Stockfeeders who handled everything so wonderfully and donated themselves
• For those who sent money to Avon Valley Equine Vets to help toward their bills.
• Sue Hurt and her wonderful network of people from the Swan Valley Progress Association and the Horse Council
• Second Chance Horse Rescue Association for their support and help
• Cavaletti Classifieds and Mary-Louise for donating the advertising space.
• Leanne Pitcher who so very generously told me to put the 33% of the purchase price of my horse toward their needs.
• The Echo Newspaper for their article on the ratbags that generated so much support.
• Dorothy and John Mitchell for the Bowen Therapy and Bach Flower Remedies and the rug for Arty
• Caballo Arabe for Blossom Dearie’s Rug and to Rod personally for feeding occasionally to give us a break.
• To each and every person who has been so very generous, not only with funds but with your telephone calls and emails of encouragement when we would get a little down and despondent about lack of progress and set backs.
I can not tell you what your support has meant, and I congratulate you all on a job well done.
And now Arty and Blossom will be handed over to you and your family Anna, from John and I and the wonderful group of people that got together to enable these ponies to go from utter neglect and extreme starvation to living out their days with you and your family and all your lovely horses in happiness and health for as long as they may have. We say to you the biggest thank you and I am sure I can include everyone when I say, if you need a hand with anything at all just let us know.
And lastly thank you to my son Benjamin, who found Arty starving, and who had the courage, against disapproval, to stand up and publicly say; “this is wrong, let’s make it right.” I’m proud of you.
With love Ruth and John Roberts
