Congratulations to Kylie Jones who is on the Wall Of Honour this week!
Kylie took in a neglected and pregnant older Thoroughbred mare. She spent a good deal of time and money fixing her up to great condition and then did her best to find the horse a home. She found what appeared to be an ideal home for the mare to retire on.
Less than a week later Kylie found out that the new owner of the mare had decided he didn't want her after all and was threatening to shoot her so instead of washing her hands of a 'useless' older horse as so many people do, Kylie decided to take her back and keep looking after her.
Destiny is 21 and her 'useful' days are over, and Kylie has vowed that this mare will never be neglected again and is personally making sure of it!
Destiny soon after arriving into Kylie's care

| Congratulations Kylie, I only recently found out about Destiny and where she came from, so I am really happy to hear that Destiny will have the proper care she needs for the rest of her life. |

Hahaha Jess, i dont deserve to be on here...... but geez you'd think someone you personally know, that offers a big paddock & plenty of feed & care, would be perfect. Just goes to show doesnt it.
Im too scare someone would take her, promising a retired home but breed with her which is NOT to happen, or someone would ride her, hence why this local home was great... or it was.
Oh well, when we get her home, she'll be happy, she can live with my 23yo (that i last owned 7yrs ago) & spend her life with him.
Now to organise to get her back & away from where threats of the bullet exists. |

Go Ky!! You do deserve to be on here, the amount of horses you've taken in and fixed or atleast give the chance (i think i remember a very very badly malnourished arab mare?) makes you special |

Oh Jessie, the mare that was advertised as a 12ypo but infact 29, turning 30. She was awesome, for her age she was a spunky little mare.
Not special, just a sucker apparantly.
1 mare i took on (quite funny really as 3 of them, came from the same lady that took them but didnt have the time), is about 1km up the road, Jess i think SC took on the chestnut stallion, where the mare came from, in Gidgy?
Well i got her, she was timid & shy & underweight, i had a young girl come up to spend time with my neddies & she took a big liking to Belle, infact Belle & Karly really clicked.
Belle is preg & due around Nov we think, she's in foal to that stallion. When i decided Belle was ready to go to a new home, thanks to Karly whom took her, she left, with a good weight coverage, but you should see her now! WOW! She looks just amazing, they got her in June & she's a changed horse, soo easy to catch/handle & body wise she looks better than some horses i've seen out showing. We catch up alot & i help them with her feeding requirements & all foaling info & hopefully the info i gave them, they'll have an idea when she's ready to drop & i can be there.
See its homes like that, they make it worth it. After Belle has weaned her foal, she's going to be started under saddle, well that was the plan but for now, she's just a spoilt member of their family. (best thing is i've made a couple of great friends out of this!)
I've got pics, will have to upload them sometime soon. |
